2014 STAAR RELEASED STATE TESTS
TEA released two types of test questions for the STAAR test - sample questions and test forms. Sample test questions are small subsets of test questions released from the STAAR test banks. These test questions may have been previously administered to Texas students. A test form is a set of released test questions previously administered together to Texas students which reflects the STAAR test blueprints.
TEA will release the first test form administered in the spring for each general STAAR assessment in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and every third year thereafter. Released test questions on this webpage do not represent all the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) student expectations eligible for assessment on STAAR. To see the 2014 released questions

Section 101.4 of the Texas Administration Code (TAC) states, "A representative form of each assessment instrument required under the Texas Education Code, Chapter 39, Subchapter B, shall be made available periodically for public review and for formative student evaluations by school districts." In order to implement this section of the TAC, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) examinations are released to the public each year after all districts have completed testing. Field test items, which are used to build future forms of the test, are not released. Spring 2003 was the first administration of the TAKS tests."

STAAR L student practice sets consist of 25 items for each STAAR L assessment and are available in the online format so that students may experience test items as they will be presented in the operational administration. There are no administration directions for the practice sets. It is strongly recommended that students complete the appropriate STAAR L online tutorial before accessing the practice sets in order to learn to use the STAAR L linguistic accommodation tools and become familiar with the online testing environment.
