Opened, in November 2007, Bistrot d'Antoine has quickly become one of the most popular places to eat in the Old City of Nice. And there are many good reasons for this. Armand Crespo from the "Cigalon" in Valbonne, changed the mood of the restaurant and refreshed the walls giving the restaurant a pleasant modern bistro feel. The bistro has both upstairs dining and a steet terrace. The restaurant has an excellent menu (see sample below), and a very reasonably priced wine list. Bistro d'Antoine now has a sister restuarant called Le Comptoir du Marche located a few blocks away at 8 rue du Marche. Below are dishes from Comptoir. Le Safari

1 Cours Saleya 93.80.18.44. This is a favorite spot of locals and tourists alike. So be prepared to wait for a table unless you reserve ahead of time. Both Le Safari restaurant and the cafe next door ---Civet are run by the same management. Safari is one of the busiest places in Nice. During the summer season it's best to come by early and reserve a table on the outside cafe. There is also a large inside dining area. The food is excellent at Safari. Try the rabbit roasted in the wood oven; an excellent (light batter) fried zuchini or any of the grilled fish dishes. Nicoise Specialties are also all excellent. Be sure the try the Petit Farcis which is a specialty of Nice consisting of vegetables that are stuffed with different fillings depending on the vegetable used e.g., eggplant, pepper, zuchini... see the petit farcis image below. Keisuke Matsushima

22 ter rue de france 06000 Nice tel: 04 93 82 26 06. On the day we visited Keisuke Matsushima we started off with a rather extravagant amuse bouche which consisted of 5 small tastings which perfectly fit the literal translation of 'amuse bouche'. Be sure to listen to the waiters description and instructions for the dish. All three dishes on the lunch menu were excellent and found to be of Michelin quality. The croisillant of sardines was done in a style reflecting the region, served with regional vegetables and jus de minestrone. The main course was a generous cut of roasted black pig from Bigorre nicely encrusted with hazelnut and mustard and served with a puree of potatoes.Make sure to sample the rolls at Keisuke Matsushima which are baked on the premises. For dessert the fennel creme brulee was topped with a few raspberries and served with a sorbet of fromage blanc with rasberry sauce. After coffee an assortment of superb macaroons were served.
